Kindermusik

7 years ago, my eldest son was part of Teacher Jeannie's 1st Kindermusik Class here in Manila. He was 6 months old then. A number of relatives and friends raised their eyebrows upon hearing that I was sending my baby to school?

"Ano na naman bang kalokohan yan?"
"Wala naman magagawa ang baby, papasok pa nang school"

I have supportive relatives no?

I must admit that when we registered, I didn't read up on the program. I was supposed to enroll my son at Gymboree when our Developmental pediatrician, Dr. Francis Xavier Dimalanta, recommended Kindermusik.

"Mas maganda ang Kindermusik" he said.

So off to Kindermusik class we went. A class will start with a hello song, followed by a short massage session then songs and dancing. Your child will be exposed to a a vast collection of baby-friendly instruments and materials. The music selection is just as impressive ranging from nursery rhymes, jazz, blues, classical even folk songs.

What fun!

We were given Take-home Materials, storybook and music CD, to continue our sessions at home. Hubby and I are both working, so our son would also do the Kindermusik activities with yaya.

What I loved and appreciated was the fact that the Kindermusik class empowered me as a parent. I learned a lot about my baby's progress and development. We became more confident in raising our son because Teacher Jeannie would give us information and tips on parenting.

In hindsight, it shouldn't just be called a baby class. It really is a Parent Empowering Series. I believe it is a must for 1st-time parents. It just made our family bond stronger. We were really taught how to be in tune with our baby. I believe in it so much that I even studied to be an educator.

Yes, I am a US-Licensed Kindermusik Educator and I teach classes in my school. If that doesn't prove how much I believe in the program, I don't know what else will.

I am writing about this know because we're back with Teacher Jeannie!!! My 10 month old son is enrolled at the Village Class (6 months-1.5 years old). Super fun fun fun! We have such a blast in class that my eldest who's now 7 years old, insists on attending the class with us every week.

If you have a child 7 years old and below, check out her classes. They schedule trial classes regularly anyway. Go and attend!

Find out what do babies learn in class anyway.

Have you attended any Mommy/Daddy and Me class? How was it?
